Tonight I am talking about two songs within the hip-hop genre. As some of us may know an African American man by the name of Kool Herc invented Hip-Hop back in the 1970s. A lot of great hip-hop songs have been created by many great artists since then. These artists made you think, had something to share with the world and made music for our culture to come together as one. In this day and age, real music does not exist anymore. The top main things that are continuously talked about are women, money, attire and accessories. Do not get me wrong, many of these songs that are being created are telling stories but not good enough to make us think and take heed on what is going on around us.
Rae Sremmurd-No Type
When I first listened to the song, I did not even know the group made this track. While I was listening to the song, I was going with the words and thought it wa catchy. As I kept reciting the words, I realized the lyrics contradicted itself. The lyrics say, "I ain't got no type...bad bitches is the only thing that I like". My first question was, "How are bad bitches the only you like if you don't have a type?". As I said the song is catchy and I also think the beat is cool. Judging from that one like, I felt as though the song did not have any meaning.
Wash ft. French Montana-THOTS
This song basically has the same criteria as the other song I mentioned. My best friend Erica mentioned the song to me and the radio suddenly played the song. Of course I'm bopping my head to the beat but the song overall makes me think "Who wants to keep listening to rappers talk about promiscuous women?". The lyrics say, "Can't trust thots. Soon as them bottles start coming out (thots). Then she come running to my car (thots). She'll leave your ass never trust a big butt and a smile. And you can't trust thots. Soon as the liquor start running out (thots). She'll be creeping to another couch (thots). She'll leave your ass never trust a big butt and a smile". What if she had a small bit and a smile? What is she then? Not only that, T.H.O.T. is not a word, it is an acronym for "That Hoe Over There". Enough is enough!!!
To the public: What do you think of the content of both songs?
