Question of The Day: Why is the workplace more about other people than actual work?
There's not exactly a perfect or an exact answer. From my point of view people want to know about someone or other people to get to the top. People will do anything for a better position. Then you have to think what is so deep about the position for this person or people in general to talk about someone or see them fail? I have a job as any 20 year should and I realize as an adult you're going to see and hear many things. To be honest I wonder why people go out of their way to gossip about a person whom they only work with and don't see outside of work.
If any gossiping or problems are happening in the work place they should be addressed. When people are in a group they tend to state their opinions about those around based off of things they heard and take it with them. The reality is, we don't know each other like we may think we do. Each of us have a story that we are not willing to share and none of us have to know of each other's personal life.
The work place is for work because where you work is not always th last stop in your life. Praise God and Stay Humble.
