Time and time again we become this person who finds themselves wanting to do better but we become blind to the fact that we are stopping ourselves form doing it. The main reason could be a relationship. I can't speak for everyone but for me, I can be too much of a "people pleaser" which is a gift and curse.
People become so comfortable with you pleasing them that it becomes a problem that you want to be selfish with your time and your life overall. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it no matter how old you are or what circumstances you're in. We also make mistakes by getting distracted by worrying about others and the person we're with and forget about ourselves. If you have to let go of someone I can't say that it will be easy but it may be worth it.
Your life is in your hands and you have every right to do with it what you want as long as it means you the blessings you deserve. Also without hurting those around you. Staying around people or someone to please them could potentially ruin that mindset that you once had about taking care of yourself first, saving for that apartment you want or looking for that better paying job to take care of yourself.
There's nothing wrong with being selfish with yourself. Those that have a problem with that are afraid of being alone and have their own issues to deal with. In addition, to be alone doesn't make you lonely. Being alone is to get you set for life and whatever that is for you will come to you. We all need a reality check to get our minds right even if it means letting go.
